Position Summary

As a Travel Nurse with Upscale Staffing, you will provide high-quality nursing care in varying healthcare settings across the country based on assignment needs. This role demands a high level of flexibility and adaptability to meet the standards and practices of different medical facilities. Travel Nurses play a pivotal role in ensuring patient care continuity, adapting quickly to new environments, and collaborating effectively with diverse healthcare teams. Your assignments will vary, each lasting typically between 8 to 13 weeks, with the option for extension depending on mutual agreement and facility needs.

Responsibilities

  • Patient Care: Deliver high-quality patient care in a variety of settings, including acute care, rehabilitation, and specialized units, according to the specific standards and protocols of each assignment.
  • Health Assessments: Conduct comprehensive and systematic patient assessments, including collecting patient history, performing physical exams, and identifying health needs.
  • Treatment Planning: Develop and implement effective nursing care plans, collaborate with healthcare team members to adjust plans as patient needs evolve, and ensure treatments are administered as prescribed.
  • Medication Management: Administer medications accurately and safely, monitor patient responses, and document all pertinent information regarding therapy.
  • Patient Education: Provide patients and their families with information about illness management and preventive measures, ensuring understanding and compliance with therapeutic regimens.
  • Emergency Response: React swiftly and effectively to medical emergencies, providing critical care expertise and implementing emergency interventions as needed.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed and accurate patient and procedural records in compliance with healthcare laws, regulations, and the specific documentation practices of each facility.
  • Compliance: Adhere to all facility policies and procedures, including safety, privacy, and infection prevention standards.
  • Professional Development: Engage in ongoing education to maintain nursing skills and knowledge, including adapting to new technology and evolving healthcare practices.
  • Interdepartmental Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to promote a harmonious and efficient environment that enhances patient outcomes.

Requirements and Minimum Qualifications

  • Current Nursing License: Valid and active nursing license in the state of Maryland or a compact state nursing license that allows for practice in Maryland.
  • Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program.
  • Experience: Minimum of two years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in a variety of medical settings.
  • Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification required. Other specialty certifications (e.g., PALS, NRP) may be required depending on assignment.
  • Skills: Strong clinical skills with the ability to react decisively in emergency situations. Proficiency in using electronic health records and medical software.
  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds, perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving the whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.
